FPL-MMI Collaboration Working Group
FPL is involved in a joint effort with the Money Management Institute's (MMI) Data Standards Working Group. Next steps include:
- Identify the FIX 4.4 messages that MMI can use to support their trade workflow.
- Conduct a detailed analysis of the identified messages to ensure that they contain data elements required by the SMA industry.
- Conduct a requirements analysis (plain English documentation) and gap analysis for TBA allocation (this work may be done in conjunction with the Global Fixed Income Committee)
The Money Management Institute (MMI) is an organization that represents the Separately Managed Account (SMA) industry. MMI has initiated an effort to automate and standardize the workflow and data communication between the SMA plan Sponsors (major broker dealers who have retail operations) and the Money Managers (investment or asset managers who have products they wish to sell through the Sponsor's retail distribution channels), and one of MMI's areas of focus in this initiative is the trading workflow. Recently MMI approached FPL to discuss the possibility of adopting FIX as their messaging standard for trading workflow.
