Regulation: How will developments in the latest legislation impact your business?

As we approach the implementation of MiFID II, we will be analysing the current status of the consultation and its relation to implementation legislation.

This session will look to address the question “what could MiFID II proposals do better?” and what, if anything, the industry can do to self-police these issues such that "heavy touch" regulation will not subsequently be necessary in the future.

This session will also seek to review:

  • What are the pros and cons of a catch all OTF bracket?
  • Why are we in this position where we need to catch something that was outside the original MiFID?
  • Have ESMA bitten off more than they can chew in the algo space? 
  • What is the buy-side's view around broker dark liquidity, transparency in algorithms and HFT?

Industry Standards Co-ordination Group - the reality of one business model

An industry initiative to ensure that the most appropriate industry standards are used to drive efficiency throughout the investment process was started a few years back.  Representatives from the organisations behind the free, open and non-proprietary standards which are used thousands of times everyday around the world, got together to look at how those standards could work together towards a uniform business model and to come up with the Investment Roadmap which is now universally seen as the reference point for market participants and regulators alike.

This session will provide an update on the work of the Standards Co-Ordination Group and the Investment Roadmap and how this will continue to evolve towards a fully interoperable roadmap.
