Scott Atwell, Manager of FIX Trading and Connectivity, American Century Investments

Scott Atwell is the Manager of FIX Trading and Connectivity for American Century Investments, a leading investment manager committed to delivering superior investment performance and building long-term client relationships since 1958.  Serving investment professionals, institutions, corporations and individual investors, American Century Investments offers a broad array of products across a variety of investment disciplines.  With offices in New York, Mountain View, Calif. and Kansas City, Mo., the company manages more than $115 billion in assets through mutual funds, institutional separate accounts, commingled trusts and subadvisory accounts.

Mr. Atwell developed American Century’s FIX system providing FIX connectivity to virtually all of the brokers used for their equity trading worldwide.  From 2004 through 2011, he served as Co-chairperson of the Global Steering Committee for FIX Protocol Limited (FPL), the non-profit organization which manages the FIX Protocol. He has served as Co-chairperson of the FIX Global Technical Committee from 1997 through 2005 and actively participates in several other FIX committees and working groups.

 

 

Dmitry Bulkin, Head of Algorithmic Strategies for the Americas, Credit Suisse

Dmitry Bulkin is a Director of Credit Suisse Advanced Execution Services (AES) and is a Head of Algorithmic Strategies for the Americas. In this role, he is responsible for modeling, implementation and customization of AES industry-leading suite of equity algorithms. He also serves as a Head of Liquidity Strategy for the Americas. In his other role, he manages the firm’s relationships with exchanges and ATS partners, and co-manages the firm’s two ATSs – Crossfinder and Light Pool. Dmitry Bulkin represents Credit Suisse on the SIFMA Equities Trading Committee and on the NASDAQ Quality Of Markets Committee.

Mr. Bulkin joined Credit Suisse AES in 2003 from Kiodex, an energy derivatives firm, where he was a Director, managing the firm's product development team. Prior to Kiodex, Mr. Bulkin was at Credit Suisse, where he worked on the firm's Government Bond Electronic Trading system.

Mr. Bulkin received B.S. Degree in Mathematics from the University of Minnesota.

 

 

Michael Caffi, Co-Chair FPL TCA Working Group, Vice President and Manager, Global TCA Services, State Street Global Advisors

Michael Caffi is Vice President and Manager of the Global TCA Services group at State Street Global Advisors.  Michael is responsible for all facets of TCA and over the past 12 years has developed SSgA’s TCA capabilities to cover Equities, Futures, Currency, and most recently Fixed Income.   Michael joined SSgA in 1995 as an IT manager responsible for Equity Trading technology and spent 5 years overseeing the advancement and globalization of SSgA's electronic trading capabilities.
Prior to SSgA, Michael was a software engineer, with 14 years at the econometrics consulting firm Data Resources and 2 years at Harvard Management Company. Michael has been an active proponent of FIX Protocol and served as SSgA's representative on the FIX U.S. Steering Committee between 1997 and 2002. He was elected co-chair of that committee in 1999 and served on the FIX Board of Directors through 2002. Michael currently co-chairs the TCA Standards working group.

James Cawley, Chief Executive Officer, Javelin

Mr. Cawley oversees all aspects of Javelin, but focuses primarily on strategic and policy initiatives, as well as client relationships.

Mr. Cawley has 20 years derivatives sales and trading experience. Most recently, Mr. Cawley ran a credit derivative interdealer broker called IDX Capital.

A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Mr. Cawley began his career in the credit and derivatives markets working for Salomon Brothers, Lehman Brothers and Bank of America.

Mr. Cawley is a co-founder of the Swaps & Derivatives Market Association (thesdma.org), an industry trade group that supports effective OTC derivative reform.  Mr. Cawley has testified before Congress with regard to the Dodd Frank Act.  He has also participated regularly in many industry round tables and submitted numerous comment letters to the CFTC, the SEC and the Federal Reserve with regard to derivatives regulation.

In 1995, Mr. Cawley rode around the world on motorcycle. From New York, he crossed the US, China, Central Asia and Europe finishing in London. The expedition took seven months.

 

Colin Clark, CFA, Senior Vice President, Strategic Analysis & Market Data, NYSE Euronext

Mr. Clark is Senior Vice President of the Strategic Analysis & Market Data group in the U.S. Products division at NYSE Euronext. He joined the company in March 2005.  Mr. Clark leads the team responsible for formulating market strategy, setting pricing and monitoring market structure developments, regulatory changes, competitor trends, client order flow behavior and market quality performance in U.S. equities, ETFs, derivatives, market data and listings. His team also provides global data support in European equities and derivatives.   In July 2010, Mr. Clark began managing the Consolidated Tape Administration (CTA) market data business. In August 2011, Mr. Clark was elected a member of the Board of Directors of NYSE Amex Options.

Prior to joining the Exchange, Mr. Clark was an equity research analyst covering brokerage firms and exchanges for five years at Merrill Lynch and Citigroup/Salomon Smith Barney. In 2004, Mr. Clark was ranked by The Wall Street Journal the #2 stock picker based on performance scores in the Investment Services sector. Additionally, Mr. Clark was recognized by Institutional Investor (II) magazine as a member of the #1 equity research team in the Broker-Dealer & Asset Manager sector in 2003 and 2004.

Mr. Clark has a BA in Economics at Bard College and an MBA from the Stern School of Business at New York University.  Mr. Clark is a registered Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

 

Sassan Danesh, Co-Chair FPL Global Fixed Income Committee, Managing Partner, Etrading Software

Sassan Danesh is a Managing Partner at Etrading Software, a London-based technology services company with a mission to assist the capital markets community in the design and implementation of trading solutions within electronic markets. Prior to co-founding Etrading Software in 2004, Sassan worked at JP Morgan’s fixed income division, designing and implementing sales and trading technology solutions.

Sassan’s focus and mission is to facilitate change across the industry, by enabling collaboration amongst different stakeholders, primarily working with broker-dealers but also with execution venues, large asset managers and quant-based hedge funds.

More recently, Sassan has been involved in bringing greater transparency and efficiency into the fixed income OTC markets by facilitating collaboration between the broker-dealer community and execution venues to define industry best practices using the FIX Protocol for trading OTC bonds and derivatives.

 

 

Pat DeFrancesco, Chief Technology Officer, Creditex, Creditex/ICE

Pat DeFrancesco is the Chief Technology Officer for Creditex and ICE Processing at IntercontinentalExchange (NYSE:ICE).  Creditex is a global market leader and innovator in the execution and processing of credit default swaps (CDS).  Creditex developed the first electronic trading platform for credit derivatives in the inter-dealer broker market and has received numerous awards for technology and outstanding service to the industry.

Mr. DeFrancesco is responsible for systems development and overall technology strategy for ICE's Credit and Fixed Income businesses.  Mr. DeFrancesco holds a M.S. from Columbia University, and a B.A. from St. Bonaventure University.

 

Ian Domowitz, CEO, ITG Solutions Network, Managing Director, ITG, Inc.

Ian Domowitz is the CEO of ITG Solutions Network, Inc. and a Managing Director at ITG, Inc. Prior to joining the company in 2001, he served as the Mary Jean and Frank P. Smeal Professor of Finance at Pennsylvania State University and previously was the Household International Research Professor of Economics at Northwestern University.  A former member of the NASD’s Bond Market Transparency Committee, he also served as chair of the Economic Advisory Board of the NASD. Mr. Domowitz has held positions with Northwestern’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Columbia University, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.  He is currently a Fellow of the Program in the Law and Economics of Capital Markets at Columbia University. 

 

Courtney Doyle McGuinn, Operations Director, FIX Protocol Ltd.

Courtney Doyle McGuinn, Operations Director of FIX Protocol Ltd., is responsible for meeting the operational and strategic needs of the FPL organization and the FIX Protocol. Courtney manages the global resources of FPL including staff and service providers in London, New York, and Asia.

Prior to this role, Courtney was involved in various engagements for Jordan & Jordan which have included conducting comprehensive market research to uncover opportunities in the financial marketplace and assisting in the selection of suitable technology solutions. She was also a lead trainer during a nationwide rollout of a branch office account executive workstation, demonstrating and assisting new users on the system. Courtney holds a BA degree from Rutgers College.

Gregg Drumma, Co-Chair, FPL Global Cross Asset Committee, Founder, Gamma Three Trading, LLC

Gregg Drumma, Founder of Gamma Three Trading, LLC has over 15 years of experience in trading technology and systems integration.  Working across all asset classes, he has developed leading edge trading and integration solutions.  He has an in-depth understanding of global market structures, pre-trade analytics, algorithmic trading, OMS/EMS, dark pools, transaction cost analysis, and post-trade solutions.

Mr. Drumma has been invited to speak at many international trade shows.  He has been quoted in numerous trade publications and contributed full length articles.  In 2012, Gregg was elected to as Co-Chair of the Global Cross Asset Committee of FPL, promoting the expansion and adoption of FIX across all asset classes.

Gamma Three Trading was founded in 2010 to provide cost-effective trade and trade capture solutions to the global markets.  Prior to starting the firm, Gregg Drumma was Vice President of Electronic Trading at Linedata Services, Inc.  He has also held development positions with Motorola, working with the GSM protocol for mobile phone communications.  He holds a B.S. from the Watson School of Engineering at Binghamton University, New York.

 

Candyce Edelen, Chief Executive Officer & Founder, PropelGrowth

Candyce brings more than twenty-two years of experience in launching and managing technology companies and founded four companies prior to PropelGrowth. She has a background in product and company launches, developing successful go-to-market strategies and building sales, marketing, and delivery teams.

Candyce helps firms in the financial services industry implement best practices for complex sales processes. She has extensive experience in lead generation and lead nurturing for complex sales, and is highly effective at building sales pipelines. She also has expertise helping marketing and sales organizations align their sales approaches to their customers buying cycles to maximize close rates for complex sales.

For the past ten years, Candyce has focused exclusively in the capital markets industry, launching two financial technology companies. She was a co-founder and President of Kaskad Technology, which provided complex event processing technology (CEP) for compliance, algorithmic trading, risk management and fraud detection. At Kaskad, Candyce spearheaded the development a CEP-based real time market surveillance system for the Boston Stock Exchange. Prior to founding Kaskad, Candyce co-founded Selero, a provider of order routing, compliance, and integration technology for the financial services industry. Selero developed the FIX gateways that handled all inbound and layoff business for the National Stock Exchange, the FIX gateways to Nasdaq's SuperMontage, and provided order routing and direct market access connectivity for a variety of sell-side and retail brokers including Scottrade, E*Trade, and Bank of New York, among others.

Candyce and her PropelGrowth team have helped more than 20 capital markets and financial technology providers refine their sales and marketing strategy to increase revenue and drive organic growth.

Candyce graduated from Colorado State University with a B.A. in Humanities.

Ben Ernest-Jones, Capital Markets Solutions Architect, Progress Software

Ben Ernest-Jones is a Solutions Architect for Capital Markets at Progress Software.  He is responsible for managing the Progress FX Aggregation and eCommerce Solution, as well as helping to define go-to-market strategies for front office trading applications.  Having previously worked as a developer and consultant on trading systems for multiple banks, Ben joined Progress in 2007 as head of Professional Services for Capital Markets, delivering projects for Algorithmic Trading, Smart Order Routing, Pricing, Market Making, Risk Monitoring, and Market Abuse Surveillance to customers across Europe and North America.

 

Des Gallacher, Director, Product Management, Charles River Development

Des Gallacher is Director, Product Management for Charles River Development, where he is responsible for the Equity and FX trading components of the Charles River Investment Management System.  Des has over 12 years of industry experience focused on front- and middle-office platforms and solutions.   Prior to joining Charles River, Des was head of Global Product, Data Management & Analytics at DST Global Solutions. Previously, Des held positions at Aberdeen Asset Managers, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, and Murray Johnstone Fund Management.

Jeffrey Gangl, Managing Director, ULLINK

With over 16 years of experience in the financial markets, Jeffrey is currently responsible for ULLINK North American business development, sales and marketing strategies. Focused on evolving ULLINK’s primary product lines and services, which include advanced FIX Order Routing, Global Connectivity, Smart Order Routing, Business Monitoring, Pre-trade Risk Management and Order Management Systems implemented as an enterprise or fully managed solution. He started his career at Pershing a BNY Securities Group Co., where he led the effort to build and manage NetExchange Services a platform targeting electronic trading and the transfer of financial related data and the systemic integration into leading trading technology platforms. Following that position, he joined LAVA a CITI Company where he focused on Smart Ordering Routing, Direct Market Access, Order Management Systems and Algorithms. Prior to joining Raptor Trading Systems he held a position at Tradeweb where he was responsible for driving the next generation of analytical tools and institutional equity driven products. Jeffrey obtained his Bachelor of Engineering degree from Stevens Institute of Technology.

 

Neal Goldstein, Co-Chair FPL Americas Risk Working Group, Managing Director and Global Head of Electronic Connectivity Solutions, J.P. Morgan

Neal Goldstein is the global head of electronic connectivity solutions at J.P. Morgan. Mr. Goldstein manages the global product team that provides clients with a wide range of connectivity solutions, including ultra-low latency co-located market access gateways and risk management products. Mr. Goldstein is also responsible for the management of J.P Morgan’s global electronic client and market connectivity platforms. Mr. Goldstein has eighteen years of experience in the development, integration and support of electronic trading products. Prior to joining J.P. Morgan in 2011, Mr. Goldstein was the US Head of Electronic Product Development at Nomura Securities, and has previously held product management roles at Lehman Brothers and Morgan Stanley. Prior to working in the financial sector, Mr. Goldstein was an electrical engineer who spent eight years in the aerospace industry. Neal holds an MBA from Long Island University C.W. Post, and a B.S. in Physics from the State University of New York at Binghamton.

 

William K. Goodbody, Jr., Managing Director, Knight Hotspot FX

William K. Goodbody, Jr., Managing Director, oversees Knight’s institutional electronic foreign exchange offering as the Business Manager for Hotspot FX LLC. He has extensive experience managing multi-asset class trading products and is an expert in global market structures.

Mr. Goodbody has been managing Hotspot FX since 2008. He has been with Knight for more than 15 years in various capacities, including Head of Market Structure and Exchange Strategy, Business Manager of the Broker-Dealer Client Group, and Co-Head of Client Services. Previously, he was First Vice President at Jefferies & Company, Inc. from 2004 to 2006, where he served as the Director of Equities Sales & Trading Technology.

William is a member of numerous financial services industry committees, including SIFMA’s Equity Markets & Trading Committee and the STA’s Trading Issues Committee, and he served as a director on the boards of NSX Holdings, Inc. and the National Stock Exchange, Inc. 

William received his B.A. in Government from Georgetown University.

 

 

Harry Gozlan, CEO and Founder, SmartTrade Technologies

Harry Gozlan is the CEO and co-founder of smartTrade Technologies. Prior to smartTrade, Gozlan spent 13 years in various trading positions. He served in rates, derivatives and proprietary trading at Citibank and was the Global Head of FX Options and Cash Treasury management at Group Credit Agricole.
Using his experience in various asset classes, Gozlan and co-founder David Vincent launched smartTrade to design multi-asset systems that would improve trading, risk management, and execution quality. The partners collaborated to build an innovative product line to meet the demands of today’s Tier 1 global banks in terms of usability, performance, reliability, flexibility, time-to-market and cost. In 2012, Gozlan and Vincent expanded the company’s product set to provide packaged solutions targeting the mid-tier and regional banks.

Since founding smartTrade in 1999, Gozlan has built the company into a global organization serving many of the largest global banks in the world. smartTrade has offices in Aix-en-Provence, Paris, London, New York and Tokyo and boasts an enviable client list of tier 1 banks.

Gozlan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from Ecole Centrale in Paris.

 

 

Alex Hagmeyer, Vice President, Markit

Alex Hagmeyer is a Vice President at Markit and currently manages Markit’s suite of trading analytics products.  Alex worked at Quantitative Services Group (QSG) for over four years before the acquisition by Markit in November of 2011.  He currently specializes in developing Markit’s global trading analysis product and consulting clients on trading cost research, process improvement and performance-based order routing in the equities and foreign exchange markets.

 

Borys Harmaty, Director, Global Head Integration Services, BGC Partners

Borys Harmaty is the Global Head of Customer Integration Services for BGC Partners and sits on the internal SEF Committee for the firm. Additionally, he is a member of the FPL’s FICWG, Global Exchanges and Markets Committee, Global Fixed Income Subcommittee.

He holds an MBA in Quantitative Analysis and a BS in Computer Science from St. John’s University. While pursuing doctoral studies he coached college men’s and women’s soccer.

Bill Hebert, Co-Chair FPL Global Education and Marketing Committee, Principal Partner, Alpha Omega Financial Systems

William H. Hebert is a Principal Partner at Alpha Omega Financial Systems. Throughout his career Mr. Hebert has been responsible for strategic technology, product and business development, electronic trading & trading systems technology, global market structure initiatives, client relationship management and strategic partnerships. More recently Mr. Hebert has been engaged as a Sr. Financial Services Consultant prior to which he was the director of Strategic Business Development for Charles River Development.
Mr. Hebert served for nine years as vice president and director of Strategic Development and Trading Solutions for Fidelity Capital Markets and the Institutional Products Group of Fidelity Investments, where he managed the various aspects of product strategy, business development and electronic trading solutions.
Prior to joining Fidelity, Hebert served in roles as director and business manager at Thomson Financial Services, vice president of Trading Systems Development for the Boston Stock Exchange and Systems Engineer and Group Manager for Electronic Data Systems in Dallas, TX and Boston, MA.

Mr. Hebert has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Stonehill College and engaged in graduate level credit studies in technology development at Harvard University.  He has served as a member and committee co-chair on various industry committees including the Financial Information Forum (FIF) Advisory Board and FIX Protocol Ltd (FPL).

 

Adam Honoré, Research Director, Aite Group

Adam Honoré is the research director of the institutional securities practice at Aite Group. He specializes in financial services technology, focusing on strategic technology initiatives associated with high performance trading, market data, machine-readable content, smart order routing, technology services, complex event processing (CEP), straight-through processing (STP), and risk management issues.

Mr. Honoré has been quoted in media publications like The Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, Financial Times, Associated Press, Investor’s Business Daily, SmartMoney, the Washington Post, and Business Week, as well as industry publications like Wall Street & Technology. He has presented at leading industry events globally.

Mr. Honoré has conducted consulting engagements for global exchanges, Fortune 500 technology and brokerage companies, as well as routine work in trading technology advising on partnerships, M&A, competitive positioning, product roadmaps, market entrance, marketing, and thought leadership.

Prior to joining Aite Group, Mr. Honoré was the Product Director responsible for front office solutions at Comprehensive Software Systems, Inc., including CRM, portfolio & account management, content management, and business intelligence platforms.

Prior to CSS, Mr. Honoré was responsible for development at Tucker Anthony Sutro Capital Markets, designing and creating applications for investment banking & research, including one of the early capital markets online personalized research delivery websites.

Before Tucker Anthony, Mr. Honoré was a software engineer at Strong Capital Management. While there, Mr. Honoré helped create an online brokerage platform, tools for their award winning mutual fund site, and intranet applications supporting Strong's enterprise, including the call center.

Mr. Honoré received his B.A. from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee with a double major in Public Relations and History. He is a four year veteran of the U.S. Army, including tours in Korea and Desert Storm. Mr. Honoré has received a citation from the Wisconsin State Legislature for charitable development work, and was Master of Ceremonies for the 1990 Missouri Special Olympics.

Dave Johnsen, Head of Electronic Trading Business Development, Barclays Capital

Dave Johnsen is a Director and Head of Electronic Trading Business Development at Barclays.  Based in New York, Mr. Johnsen leads a global team tasked with the development and execution of product strategy for Equities Electronic Trading, including smart order routing, analytics, and internalization.
Prior to joining Barclays in 2012 Mr. Johnsen spent 10 years at Goldman Sachs where he was responsible for equities liquidity strategy and several major product development initiatives.
Mr. Johnsen holds a BS from Cornell University.

Tom Jordan, President and CEO, Jordan & Jordan

Tom Jordan is President and CEO of Jordan & Jordan. Previously Tom was Managing Director at Knight-Ridder, Chairman of Monchik-Weber and held various software development and marketing management positions at IBM.  Prior to his business career, Tom served as an officer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the First Cavalry Division and the 1st Infantry Division. He was the Founder of the Foundation for Excellence in Yorktown Education. 

Tom actively participates in many industry initiatives. He is the Co-Founder and Advisory Chair of the Financial Information Forum (FIF), and a member of the Advisory Committee of Real Time Trade Matching (RTTM), Consolidated Tape Association (CTA) and the Unlisted Trading Privileges (UTP) plan. He is a member of the Board of Regents of St. Peter's College and The Board of Directors of the Knights of Saint Patrick. Tom holds a BS degree in Mathematics from Saint Peter's College and a MS in Industrial Administration from Union College.

 

 

George Kledaras, Chairman, FIXFlyer

 

Brian Lees , Co-Chair, FPL Buy-Side Execution Venue Subgroup, AVP, Trading Technology Manager, The Capital Group Companies

Brian Lees is an AVP and Information Technology manager for The Capital Group Companies, where he has supported equity trading for the past 15 years. He has been closely involved with Capital Group's ongoing efforts to integrate the FIX protocol with the firm's proprietary equity order management system since 1998. He is an active participant in the FIX Protocol Buyside Working Group and currently is serving as co-chair of the FPL Execution Venue Working Group.

 

Fred Malabre, Co-Chair FPL High Performance Working Group, Senior Director, CME Group

Fred Malabre is a Senior Director at CME Group. He currently manages the system analyst group for trading and business systems.

Fred has been working over 14 years in financial markets including OTC brokers, banks and exchanges.
He currently focuses on data integration between trading systems, especially for the high performance and low latency Globex platform.

Fred is currently Co-Chair of the HPL High Performance Working Group.

 

Amy May, Executive Director, Morgan Stanley Electronic Trading

Amy May runs the global Morgan Stanley Electronic Trading (MSET) vendor management team. A member of the firm since 1996, Amy and the vendor management team cover global connectivity for all cash, program, algorithmic and direct market access offering for equities, options and futures products . Amy started her career at Morgan Stanley in their Tokyo branch and has been in the New York offices since 2000. Amy joined the Morgan Stanley Electronic Trading (MSET) team in 2003.

Amy holds a B.S. from Illinois State University and was a Fulbright Scholar to Japan in 1991-92.

Rishi Nangalia, Head of REDI Technologies, Goldman Sachs

Rishi manages REDI Technologies, the newly formed technology initiative that includes the REDIPlus trading platform.

Rishi joined Goldman Sachs in 2001 as a member of the (SLK) REDI Products Group, which has since evolved into Goldman Sachs’ global electronic trading arm. He was named managing director in 2007.  Prior to joining the firm, Rishi co-founded an e-trading startup in Asia after earning an MBA. Earlier, he worked in real estate, first as a project manager at a development company and later as a research associate covering REITs at CIBC World Markets.

Rishi earned an MBA in Finance & Entrepreneurship from Columbia Business School, an MS in Real Estate Development from Columbia University and a BBA from St. Xavier’s College, India.

 

 

Brian Nathan, Managing Director, Client Services, Platforms, ITG

Brian Nathan joined ITG in 2006 with ITG’s acquisition of The MacGregor Group. In his current role, he is responsible for client and vendor relationships as well as integration for ITG’s global FIX network, ITG Net. Prior to joining ITG, Mr. Nathan managed the MacGregor FIX Network Sales & Account Management team.  Mr. Nathan is a 1996 graduate of the University of Colorado.

Jim Northey, Co-Chair FPL Americas Regional Committee, Co-Founder, The LaSalle Technology Group

Jim Northey has over twenty years experience as a manager, consultant, and implementer in the financial markets. He is currently a partner in The LaSalle Technology Group, LLC, a Houghton, Michigan based engineering and products company focused on providing connectivity solutions for the financial markets.

Jim has been a very active leader and innovator in creating and promoting financial messaging standards by regularly contributing to the FIX and ISO 20022 standardisation efforts. He served as co-chair of the FIX Global Derivatives Committee from 2003 to 2005. Currently, he serves as the co-chair of the FIX America's Regional Committee and is the Industry Standards Liaison for FIX Protocol Ltd. representing FPL on the ISO 20022 Requirements Management Group and Technical Support Group.

Jim holds a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Indianapolis and an M.S. in Financial Markets and Trading from the Illinois Institute of Technology with an emphasis in Computational Finance. He periodically serves as an adjunct lecturer at Michigan Technological University - School of Business and Economics.

 

Sean Owens, Director, Fixed Income, Woodbine Associates, Inc.

Sean Owens is Director, Fixed Income at Woodbine Associates, Inc. focusing on strategic, regulatory, trading, risk, and technology issues that impact firms active in the fixed income and OTC derivative markets.   He brings to the firm a wealth of experience in U.S. and international fixed income markets, quantitative analysis, consulting, and research.

Mr. Owens has published research in financial journals and has been widely quoted in the media and various trade publications.  He has served on industry panels and roundtables and is a frequent speaker at industry events. 

Mr. Owens brings more than ten years’ experience in the fixed income and currency markets as an interest rate derivatives trader, formerly with General Re Financial Products Corporation.  During that period, he traded, structured and managed the risk for trading books within the major currencies.  He also played a central role unwinding the firm's derivative portfolio during the unit’s liquidation.  

Mr. Owens also has experience advising a range of small businesses on strategic and tactical issues central to performance in their market segments.   Mr. Owens has an M.B.A. in Finance from Columbia Business School and a B.S. in Economics from the United States Military Academy.

 

 

Justin Peterson, Managing Director, Tradeweb Markets LLC

Pankil Patel, Co-Head of Advanced Execution Services, Credit Suisse

Mr. Patel is the Head of Trading for Advanced Execution Services Americas at Credit Suisse. He is one of the original members of the AES team, having joined in 2003. AES has since grown to be a full-service suite of algorithmic strategies, tools, and analytics for trading securities throughout the world.

He is on the Board of Directors for Level ATS and is a member of the Nasdaq Best Markets Advisory Committee.   Prior to joining Credit Suisse, Mr. Patel worked in Equity Derivatives Trading at Robertson Stephens. He began his career in Credit Risk Management at JP Morgan. He graduated from Rutgers College of Engineering, where he studied Electrical Engineering.

 

 

Ryan Pierce, Director and Architect, Post Trade Technology, CME Group

Ryan Pierce joined CME Group in 2012. As Director and Architect, Post Trade Technology, his responsibilities include collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, standards bodies, and industry organizations to define FIXML standards for clearing and regulatory reporting, including trade submission, allocations, and reference data for listed and OTC products. With more than 15 years experience within the electronic trading industry, he has developed a very strong understanding of the FIX Protocol and the potential it offers to the financial services sector. Prior to joining CME Group, Ryan focused on implementation and software development at Townsend Analytics and Lehman Brothers, and, in 2010, took the role of FPL Technical Director where he worked closely with exchanges and execution venues globally to help synchronize their FIX specifications, and with the regulatory community to increase their understanding of the benefits the protocol offers.

Ryan has been an active member of FPL since the 1990s and has contributed to the development of each version of the protocol since FIX 4.1, which was released in 1998. His involvement ranges from adding listed derivatives support to FIX 4.1, creating the market data suite of messages in FIX 4.2, co-authoring the ‘FIX Security White Paper’, and, most recently, collaborated in the creation of Parties Reference Data, Allocation Extensions, Trade Match Report, and CFTC Part 43 and 45 Reporting extensions to FIX 5.0 SP2. Ryan is an active participant on the FPL Americas Regional Committee and the Global Technical Committee (GTC) where he continues to serve on the Americas and GTC Governance Boards. He also works closely with the Global Exchanges and Markets Committee and the FIA Post Trade Working Group.

 

 

David Polen, Head of Business Development, Fidessa Corporation

David Polen is Head of Business Development for Fidessa in the US. In his role, Mr. Polen focuses on strategic development, working closely with customers and prospects on Fidessa's new and existing services. In his most recent external position, Mr. Polen served as Managing Director at Lime Brokerage, where he oversaw the company’s high frequency business line, sales and product management.

Prior to that, Mr. Polen worked at Fidessa for thirteen years in roles ranging from developer to product marketing. In his latest position, he was Senior Vice President of hosted product marketing at Fidessa in the US.  In this role, he was responsible for developing and extending the core strengths of Fidessa's hosted trading platform and its advanced trading tool suite of solutions. 

Vijay Rao, VP Product Management, Alpha Omega Financial Systems, Inc.

Vijay Rao graduated from Columbia University in 2002 with a Bachelors degree in Economics. After graduating from Columbia, Vijay was employed in the Data Content and Production group in the MSCI Barra division of Morgan Stanley helping deliver high quality financial data to MSCI Barra's BarraOne portfolio risk platform. During his tenure, the BarraOne platform grew revenues from less than $2 million to over $12 million. Vijay subsequently worked at Barclays Global Investors (now Blackrock, Inc.) on the Fixed Income Portfolio Management and Trading desk for three years. After leaving Barclays Global Investors, Vijay has been consulting for a variety of clients in the SF Bay Area, including a high net worth family office in Moraga, CA, Pandoodle, Inc., a digital media company based in Palo Alto, CA and Dosho Design,Inc., a home fitness company in Albany, CA. Vijay joined Alpha Omega Financial Systems in May 2012. 

 

 

Vlad Rashkovich, Global Business Manager of Trade Analytics, Bloomberg L.P.

Vlad Rashkovich is the Global Business Manager of Trade Analytics at Bloomberg. Vlad and his team are focused on bringing innovation into the trader’s workflow. Original frameworks and models, which Vlad has authored, unleash new alpha frontiers for buy- and sell-side traders and portfolio managers.

Vlad’s background is in fundamental equity research and portfolio management. Prior to his joining Bloomberg, he was a senior product manager at AllianceBernstein, working on multi-asset portfolio optimizations. Vlad started his asset management career as a buy-side research analyst at UBS.

Mr.Rashkovich holds a B.A. in Economics and Accounting from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and an MBA from Columbia Business School.

 

 

Will Rhode, Principal, Director of Fixed Income, TABB Group

Will Rhode joined TABB Group as an analyst in March 2010 and is based in New York.

Will brings 14 years of experience, specializing in the risk management and derivatives industry, previously working for Risk Magazine and its associated publications. Prior to TABB Group, Will was Editor, Americas for Risk in New York and Editor of AsiaRisk Magazine in Hong Kong. In addition to journalism, Will has also worked as a novelist and has had three books published and translated into five languages by major international publishing houses. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England.

James N.B. Rucker has been Credit and Risk Officer since March 2010. Prior to his current role, Mr. Rucker was Chief Financial Officer since June 2004. From our formation in April 2000 through June 2004, Mr. Rucker was Head of Finance and Operations. Before joining MarketAxess Mr. Rucker spent 20 years at Chase Manhattan Bank. From January 1995 to April 2000, he was Vice President and Head of International Fixed Income Operations at Chase, where he was responsible for the settlement of international securities, loan, option and structured trades. He also was a Director of the Emerging Markets Clearing Corporation from 1999 to 2000. Mr. Rucker received a B.S. in Economics and Politics from Bristol University, England in 1978.

Franz Schmidpeter, Head of Client Relations, BuysideFX

Franz Schmidpeter started FX trading on the sell side in 1986. After long stints in spot and proprietary trading he headed global FX options for a major German bank.

Changing his career path, he became the co-founder of PlanetHome, an Internet start-up in mortgages before he accepted the position of Country Manager for GMAC - RFC in Germany. He accompanied the sale of a GMAC subsidiary to a leading private equity firm and took on the position as Operational Partner. In his new position, Franz was responsible for strategic overview and re-organization of the investments. As Head of Client Relations at BuysideFX he works with our clients to ensure that our systems optimally capture and execute our clients strategies.

Alan F. Schwarz, CEO, FXSpotStream LLC

Alan F. Schwarz is the CEO of FXSpotStream LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of LiquidityMatch LLC. FXSpotStream provides a multibank FX price aggregation service to clients for the purpose of executing Spot FX trades from FXSpotStream’s hosted locations in New York, London and Tokyo. FXSpotStream’s liquidity providers include BofA Merrill Lynch, Citi, Commerzbank AG, Goldman Sachs, HSBC and J.P. Morgan. The majority of the LiquidityMatch shareholders are also liquidity providing banks of FXSpotStream.

Prior to his current role, Alan was CEO of proprietary trading firm Bay Head CI US LLC and President and COO of Trading Cross Connects, an incubator of high frequency trading firms providing infrastructure and technology services, which was majority owned by ICAP plc.

Alan was previously General Counsel and Chief of Staff at BrokerTec Global LLC and following BrokerTec’s acquisition by ICAP plc, Alan became ICAP’s General Counsel for the Americas.

Charles Susi, Managing Director, Global Co-Head of Direct Execution, UBS

Charlie Susi is the Global Co-Head of Direct Execution at UBS, the firm’s institutional equities electronic trading business. He is responsible for the day-to-day operations and growth of UBS’s electronic trading business on a global basis. Lisa Taikitsadaporn, Chair FPL Global Fixed Income Technical Subcommittee, Managing Partner, Brook Path Partners, Inc.

 

Ms. Taikitsadaporn is well respected for her knowledge on issues relating to electronic trading, connectivity and FIX implementation.  In 2001, she co-authored the FIX Protocol Fixed Income Gap Analysis that is the foundation of the FIX 4.4 fixed income specification.  She is an active participant in the FIX Protocol community, chairing the Global Fixed Income Technical Subcommittee, serving on the Global Technical Committee's Governance Board and on the editorial board of quarterly FIXGlobal journal.  She is a contributing member of several other FIX committees and working groups.  Additionally, she is the current editor of the FIX Protocol Specification.  She currently consults to buy-side, sell-side firms, product vendors and ATS/ECNs, on FIX implementation and connectivity for equity, fixed income, foreign exchange, derivatives and clearing.  Lisa has over 15 years of experience with the FIX Protocol and electronic trading implementations.

Prior to co-founding Brook Path Partners, Inc., Lisa was an integral member of Thomson Financial’s TradeRoute (an order routing network) product team for seven years.  She managed and supported TradeRoute's and Autex's FIX connectivity solution in addition to providing FIX business analysis and software quality assurance support to the internal product development teams for both TradeRoute and AutEx.

James M. Timmins, Vice President, Enterprise Software, NYSE Technologies

Jim Timmins joined NYSE Technologies in December 2009 and serves as the Global Head of Transaction Software and Business Operations where he oversees all external facing transactional software products and services.  The software products cover the industry leader FIX technology headed by Appia FIX Gateways, Appia Business Centre, TradeScope FIX Environment Manager, Ultra Low-Latency Market Access Gateways, and Transact Tools suite of products.  In addition Jim runs the NYSET Consultancy and Enterprise Software Support teams.

Jim joined NYSE Technologies as part of the acquisition of NYFIX, Inc. where he worked since 2002 where he also was heading up the FIX product business globally.  Primarily overseeing product development and the FIX business around the industry leading Appia FIX technology and launching the premier FIX Training courses held in over 10 countries.  Jim has been an active member of the FPL and staunch supporter of expanding FIX globally beginning with Javelin Technologies where he oversaw the Global Support Desk, Product Management, Sales, Client Project Management, Quality Assurance and Corporate IT teams.  He also expanded Javelin’s presence globally, establishing support offices in London, Manila and Tokyo.

Prior to experience with FIX, Jim spent the 11 years with Market Data Corporation, industry leading technology company in the Fixed Income world, where he last served as Senior Vice President of Operations leading MDC’s effort to build a round-the-clock global network and support infrastructure from the ground up.  While at MDC, he also held positions in the product management of trading systems and project management of installations covering US and International Sovereign Debt, Mortgage Backed Securities, Foreign Exchange, Futures & Options and Capital Markets.

Over the past 8 years, my career has been focused on developing and selling electronic business solutions for OTC products (bonds, derivatives) with a specific focus on credit products (corporate bonds, CDS, loans).

Post 2008, much of my work has centered around the concept of "eDistribution" which is the improvement of the OTC market making business model through the use of data and technology. eDistribution is very comprehensive, encompassing electronic trading, sales and trading workflow tools, and MIS reporting.

I have designed and delivered proprietary eDistribution applications and tools including the recently launched GSessions ™ trading system.  

 

 

Jon Williams, Managing Director, Head of U.S. Markets, Tradeweb Markets LLC

Jon Williams is Managing Director and Head of U.S. Markets at Tradeweb. Williams joined Tradeweb in 2004 to oversee the TBA-MBS trading platform following the acquisition of Tradeweb by Thomson Financial.

Williams has more than 20 years of experience in institutional finance. Prior to joining Tradeweb, he was at Bloomberg Markets, where he fulfilled a number of roles in the fixed income division, including managing the development and marketing of fixed income analytics, and overseeing order management systems within the Global Product Strategy Group. Previously, Williams was a mortgage-backed trader at Cowen & Company. He began his career in the financial sector at Thomson McKinnon in 1987.

Williams holds a B.A. from Kenyon College.

 

Greg Wood, Director, FPL, Co-Chair FPL Global Derivatives Subcommittee, Director, Algorithmic Execution, Listed Derivatives and Foreign Exchange, Deutsche Bank Securities, Inc

Greg Wood heads the algorithmic execution product in the US for Futures and FX at Deutsche Bank Securities, based in New York.   Greg has been involved in electronic trading for over 10 years and has focused on multi-asset automated trading.  He is a director of FIX Protocol Ltd and co-chair of their Global Derivatives committee, and president of the Futures Industry Association's IT Division.  As well as contributing to several papers on pre-trade risk management best practices, he was selected in 2012 to be part of the CFTC Technology Advisory Committee's working group on automated and high frequency trading.
