maxLength attribute for strings and vectors

What do you think of adding a maxLength attribute for strings and vectors in the FAST templates?
A lot of strings are used for short codes for instance.
Adding a maxLength attribute in the string declaration would help to optimize the internal data representation in the FAST decoders.
(Or did I missed something in the FAST specs?)
